Alvin Frank Wales, 92, of Koshkonong, Mo., was born April 2, 1911, in Oregon County, Mo., and died Jan. 20, 2004, at his home.
He worked as a farmer until 1952, when he and his family moved to Eureka, Calif., where he worked in the redwood lumber mills until his retirement in 1973. He then returned to Missouri where he spent the next 30 years working on the farm he loved. He was saved at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church of Thayer, Mo.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Irene Pearl Grooms-Wales of the home; a son, Jasper Leon Wales and wife, Rosalie, of Koshkonong, Mo.; a grandson, Corey Frank Wales and wife, Shelley, of Raytown, Mo.; and two sisters, Hila Strain of Thayer, Mo., and Euda Russell and husband, Olen, of Thayer, Mo.;
Preceding him in death was his parents -- Frank Leone Wales and Allie L. Janes-Wales; and three sisters -- Arkie Grooms, Fay Gregory and an infant sister, Eula Wales.
The funeral was Jan. 22 at Clary Chapel with Bill Banks officiating. Interment was in Shiloh Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring, Ark.
Pallbearers were Tom Cates, James Martin, Bill Franz, Donnie Perkins, Jerry Strain and Doyle Johnson.
