Ollie Marion Ragan, son of the late G.M. Ragan and Lola Sandridge Ragan, was born Oct. 26, 1910, in Iron Point, Nev., and died Jan., 28, 2004, in West Plains, at the age of 93.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving his country during World War II. He was a long time Thayer businessman and had been a member of First Baptist Church in Thayer for many years.
He was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of Clifton Lodge 463 in Thayer. He was a member of American Legion Charles Burkett Post 344 in Thayer, the Langston-Vincent-Lunn VFW Post 7831 in Mammoth Spring, and Gideon International.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Shepherd of Sulphur, La.; two special cousins -- Pearl "Pet" Hines and Ed Taylor of Thayer; two nephews; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers -- Tony and Wilbur Ragan; and a sister, Naomi Ragan.
The funeral was Feb. 2 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in with Dr. Bill Banks, and the Rev. Grover Pingleton officiating. Burial was in Thayer Cemetery. Military honors were presented by American Charles Burkett Post #344 of Thayer, Mo.
Pallbearers were Ed Taylor, Marvin Heddon, Paul Taylor, Dow Wilkerson, Richard Hedden, Lewis Shepherd and Robert Shepherd.
