Carl Eugene McNair, was born on Aug. 29, 1937, in Camp, Ark., to Joseph S. and Tressie E. Burk McNair. He graduated from Salem High School in Dec. 1955, and entered Ambassador College in Pasadena, Calif., in Aug. 1956. It was there that he met his beloved wife of 42 years, Dorothy Joan Ocha. They married in September of 1961. Carl's graduation and orientation into the ministry was that same year. Over the next four decades, he served in many capacities in God's work, traveling throughout the United States and the world. At the time of his death, he was serving as evangelist and regional pastor in the Living Church of God.
He was truly a student of life, with a deep love of learning. He loved the outdoors and fished and hunted all his life. Above all, he loved God's way and was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren. He dedicated himself to seeking and learning God's way and believed that teaching it to others was his lifelong calling.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; daughters - Karla (Philip) Steagall of Tucson, Ariz., and Kathryn (Thomas) Greider of Chicago; sons -- Jonathan (Christy) McNair of Baton Rouge, La., Peter (Mique) McNair of St. Paul, Minn., and Rod (Dana) McNair of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters -- Vivian (Joe) Parsons and Peggy (Jack) Batterton; brothers -- Marion (DeLoyce) McNair, Raymond (Eve) McNair and Herbert Burk (Billie Sue) McNair; and 18 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Archie (Charlene) McNair; and a sister Margie (Roderick) Meredith.
The funeral was April 25 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem, Ark., with Roderick Meredith officiating. Interment was in the Camp Cemetery at Camp, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
Pallbearers were Jonathan McNair, Peter NcNair, Rod McNair, Philip Steagall, Thomas Greider and Chris Bemis.
