Dr. Ernie Mainprize presided at the April meeting of the Historical Society of Oregon County at the society's home on Second Street in Thayer.
The group is adding yearbooks to its collection and thanks Betty Morris for her gift of many Thayer yearbooks. She promised in the future to give the society a yearbook each year.
Members discussed the contents for the newsletter from the Society.
Nadine Langley told about providing transportation for the elderly for their doctor appointments.
She said a chair lift is needed. Langley is working on a grant to finance the program. If this materializes the program will serve Howell, Oregon and Shannon counties.
Langley is also working on a Medicaid certification. At the present time, she works from her home.
Historical Society members have so far been unsuccessful in attempts to get Historical Sketches printed to add to the historical books for sale. Mildred McCormack will be responsible for more copies being printed of Readin', 'Ritin' and 'Rithmetic.
Sealed contributions were given from the members for Mildred Cornelius whose home was completely destroyed by fire recently.
Carl Burkhead is a welcome new member of the group.
