Velma Lorene Whitworth, 82, of Washington, Ill., died July 4, 2004, at CSY St. Francis Medical Center in Illinois.
Born Dec. 27, 1921, in Alton, Mo., she was the daughter of Chloe Murray McClanahan and George McClanahan.
She was a school volunteer, a homemaker and was a member of Roland Manor Baptist Church in Washington, Ill.
Survivors include a daughter, Debby Stone of Washington, Ill.; four grandchildren -- Shelly (Rick) Farmer of E. Peoria, Ill., Bob (Sandie) Whitworth of West Plains, Mo., Laurie (Greg Rudd) Whitlock of Chicago, Ill., and Coletta Stone of Washing-ton, Ill.; four great-grandchildren two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia (Archie) Vest of Madison, Ill.'
She was preceded in death by her husband, Houston; a son, Bob; two brothers and a sister.
The funeral service was held July 7 at the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home in Pocahontas with Melvin Shelton officiating.
Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery at Pocahontas, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of the McNabb Funeral Home of Pocahontas, Ark.
A memorial service was held at her church July 8, 2004,
