The first ever Knights of Columbus Golf Tournament at Turkey Mountain Golf Course Aug. 21 was a successful fund-raising tournament, and this would be impossible without the assistance and generosity of all the people involved. Special thanks go to Tammy's Home Furnishing of Horseshoe Bend, Main Street Prints of Ash Flat, Ron's Fine Foods of Horseshoe Bend, The Austin Hotel in Hot Springs, and the Glenwood Country Club in Glenwood for their generous contributions. The following businesses and individuals donated prizes to the tournament -- Yakov Smirnoff Theater in Branson, Johnson's Supply, Sears, Forschler True Value Center in Ash Flat; NAEC in Salem; Jim and Judy's and Franklin General Store in Franklin; The Golf Place in Mountain Home; from Horseshoe Bend -- Mayor and Dotie Spear, Sonny Odom, Mr. and Ms. Jack Petty, Bancorp South, Reeves Tri-counties Propane, B&J Automotive, The Corner Cafe, Snappy Mart, Inspirations, Gray's Saddlery, Cottage Square, Karen's Kitchen, Wholesale Warehouse, Strawberry Art Association, Crowded Cabin Crafts, Market Street Pharmacy.
"Thanks go to all 26 teams who participated. It was a great tournament and congratulations to the winners," a spokesman said.
A Flight was won by Larry Kissee, John Kissee and Tyler French with a score of 60; Donnie Bryant, Jay Nelson and Marvin Maguffee were second with a score of 61; Ted and Joyce Densford and Bob Love finished third with a score of 62. In the B Flight, Don Miller, Joe Valenta and Richard Baltzley finished first with a score of 68; Chuck Wolff, Henry Gsewend and Sammy Weir were second with a score of 689; third place went to Shannon Smith, Matt Thomas and Dusty Walker with a score of 69.
