Leslie Griggs Laymon, 77, daughter of the late Phillip Griggs and Ada Sanders Griggs, was born March 8, 1927, in Calico Rock, Ark. She died Aug. 30, 2004, in St. Louis, Mo.
She married Orville L. Laymon in St. Louis, in 1944, and to this union one daughter was born.
During her working years she worked at the Bussman Fuse Factory in St. Louis. She retired after 33 years of employment.
She was a member of the Pontoon Baptist Church in Granite City, Ill.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Kohlbrecker of Ballwin Mo., a sister, Tressie Wood of Caraway, Ark.; a brother, Ward Griggs of St. Louis; two grandchildren and their spouses -- Blake and Pat Kohbrecher of San Antonio, Texas, and Brandi and Mark Godbee of Creve Coeur, Mo.; four great-grandchildren -- Gunnar, Gavin and Galen Kohlbrecker and Grant Godbee.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Jeff Griggs; and three sisters -- Barb Holland, Ada May Garrett and Cleffie Sneed.
The funeral service was Sept. 2 at Dolph Baptist Church with Bruce Qualls officiating. Burial was at Dolph Baptist Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne, Ark.
Pallbearers were Danny Sneed, Jerry Sneed, Scott Tyson, Steve Qualls, Phillip Qualls and Lenord Hames.
