THAYER -- The Fun and Friends Senior Citizen Center will hold its annual walkathon Sept. 11.
The walk this year has been moved from the First Baptist Church Christian Activity Center to the Thayer High School Gymnasium.
All proceeds will go to the meal program at the Fun and Friends Senior Citizen Center.
Pledges may be made per mile or contributions of choice may be made. It cost $3 to provide one meal at the center, and center director Sheila Smith asks contributors to take this into account when making pledges.
She said the first 35 walkers to bring in $25 in sponsorship the day of the walk will receive a free T-shirt.
Special prizes will be awarded to the most money turned in the day of the walk and also to the oldest and younger walker.
