Redmon to retire

Thursday, April 19, 2007

Dennis Redmon, Bank of Thayer's President and CEO will retire April 27. Dennis has served the bank, his community and his church for almost 20 years.

Redmon came to the bank in July of 1987 with 21 years of banking experience. He graduated from Missouri State University in 1968 with a bachelor's of science degree, specializing in management and from Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1984.

Many changes were made at the bank during Redmon's 20 years of leadership. His knowledge in all areas of banking was a major asset for the bank. This knowledge and experience included technology which allowed the bank to compete with large, non-community banks. He gave convenience to the customers when the first ATM (Automated Teller Machine) was installed at the drive-in facility in 1990. The technology benefits continued and Internet banking was introduced in 2000.

Two branch facilities opened during his leadership; the Howell County branch at West Plains, Mo., and the Bank of Thayer Alton branch in Alton.

He has been a servant to his church; teaching Sunday school, singing and serving on many committees at the First Baptist Church of Thayer.

Redmon has served endless hours for local organizations. Serving in the capacity as member, committee member and/or officer of many organizations including: Thayer-Mammoth Rotary, Thayer Area Chamber of Commerce, Thayer Community Betterment, Thayer School A+ Advisory Committee, Thayer Development Company, Ozarks Heritage Marketing Group, South Central Council of Governments and West Vue, Inc. Redmon served regardless of how small or great the task, from cooking pancakes to hanging billboards.

Redmon said, "It has been an honor and privilege to serve Bank of Thayer for nearly 20 years and to lead an excellent staff as they serve our customers. I know of no one who has been more blessed than my family and me as we have lived in this area. I ask all of you to support Bank of Thayer as they continue their over 106 years of service to the communities they serve."

Redmon will be moving to Little Rock to join his wife, Debbie, who is there taking care of her mother.

"I am retiring from banking, not from life," said Redmon.

Redmon and his wife have three children, Chris, Russ and Janelle and 10 grandchildren. They were also guardians to Tiona Bridgewater Hendrix and Rotary International parents to Nora Niemela and Benita Johansson.

Redmon will be succeeded by Roger Lonon, current president of the Howell County Bank branch of Bank of Thayer.
