Henry O. Thompkins, 88, of Saddle, Ark., died April 25, 2004, at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
Born Feb. 4, 1916, in Poughkeepsie, Ark., he was the son of Dudley Arthur Tompkins and Auda Haney Tompkins. He retired from the United States Army as a master sergeant after serving for over 22 years. He served during World War II and Korea, and was a recipient of a Purple Heart.
He was member of the Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, Ark.
Survivors include a son, James Tompkins and wife, Mackie, of Ash Flat; a daughter, Barbara Carlson of Branson, Mo.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn Benton Tompkins; a brother and a sister.
The funeral was April 28 at Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel in Highland with Dr. Larry Kindrick officiating. Burial was in Saddle Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Tri-County's Funeral Services Inc. of Hardy.
