Edgar M. "Jack" Turner, 81, of Cave City, died April 30, 2004, at White River Medical Center in Batesville. Born Feb. 4, 1923, at Cave City, Ark., he was the son of Charlie and Mollie Miller Turner. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. He retired from International Shoe Factory in Batesville. His hobby was woodworking. He was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Glendon Turner, of the home; a son, Eddie Turner of Cave City; two brothers -- Lowell Turner of Cave City, and Joe Turner of Fort Smith; three sisters -- Louise Stean of Bonner Springs, Kan., Nona Marie Perkey of Cave City, and Lena Caroline Hugg of Cedar Lake, Ind.; two granddaughters -- Tonya Smith of Sidney, and Amanda Short of Jonesboro; three great-grandchildren -- Derek Bell, Lacy Welcher and Allie Smith, all of Sidney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers -- Troy Turner and Maurice Turner; and a sister, Maida Whitmire.
A graveside service was May 2 at Cave City Cemetery with Grayden Milligan officiating. Arrangements were under by Qualls Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Derek Bell, Phillip Smith, David Short, Jimmy Bristow, Donald Perkey and Dale Taylor.
