William Francis Gipson, 81, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died April 23, 2004, at North Arkansas Life Care Center in Horseshoe Bend.
Born Oct. 17, 1922, in Santa Anna, Texas, he was the son of William and Clara Childers Gipson.
He was school superintendent in Alaska for many years and served as corporal in the Army in World War II.
Survivors include a brother, James Gipson of Houston, Texas; three nephews and a niece; and a brother-in-law, Jack Baer of Royal Center, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rosemary.
The funeral was April 29 at the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel. Burial followed at Evening Shadows Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend, with arrangements under the direction of the Horseshoe Bend Memorial Chapel.
