Glenn E. Michaels, 90, died April 19, 2004, at S. Louis University Hospital.
Born Jan. 18, 1914, at Mammoth Spring, he was the son of John George and Emma Emily Mielke Michaels.
He married Margaret Dickerson on Sept. 4 1939, in Granite City. She died May 23, 1987. To this union two sons were born -- John Albert Michaels Sr., of Olathe, Kan., and Charles Edwin Michaels of Collinsville, Ill.
He moved to Granite City, Ill., in 1937, and worked at Granite City Steel for 44 years when he retired.
On Aug. 5, 1989, he married Laura Skipper of Granite City, who died Sept. 21, 1995.
Survivors include his sons -- John and wife, Nancy, and Charles and wife, Donna; four grandsons -- John A. Jr. , wife, Jamie, Robert Bradley, wife, Deborah, Chris, wife, Amy, and Jamie Scott Michaels; four great-grandchildren; a stepson, Keith Skipper, wife, Jane, of Jerseyville, Ill.; a stepdaughter Marsha Goucher of Marble Hills, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Otho Powell of Granite City; two sisters-in-law -- Tressie Michaels of Mammoth Spring and Kathleen Michaels Schutt of Thayer; nephews -- Troy Powell and Wayne Michaels; nieces -- Emily Powell Taylor, Karen Michaels Earls, Pat Langston, husband Dale, and Sue Ramsey, husband, Herb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; a sister, Freddie Michaels Powell; four brothers -- James Franklin, Everett, Earl, and George Michaels; a niece, Charlotte Michaels Kukal; and a stepdaughter, Peggy Martin.
The funeral was April 22 at Irwin Funeral Chapel in Granite City with the Rev. John Gamblin officiating.
Burial was at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates at Edwardsville, Ill.
