James W. Smith, 69, of Poughkeepsie, Ark., died April 24, 2004, at his home.
Born Jan. 8, 1935, at Poughkeepsie, he was the son of Everett and Pearl Shirley Smith.
He retired as a plant supervisor from Warner Commercial Body in Noblesville, Ind., and was a member of Powell's Chapel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Smith of the home; one son, Rex Smith of Noblesville; three daughters -- Charline Dell of Noblesville, Gracie King of Batesville and Lawanda Mobley of Poughkeepsie; a brother, Rupert McRay Smith of Searcy; three sisters -- Bernita Mobley of Noblesville, Delvita Hatfield of Searcy, and Annetta Herick of Little Rock; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers -- Tommy Neal Smith, Marvin Smith and two infants; an infant sister; and a great-grandson, Taylor Dell.
The funeral was April 28 at Powell's Chapel United Methodist Church near Poughkeepsie with Delbert Essen officiating.
Burial followed in the Powell's Chapel Cemetery located near Poughkeepsie with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Michael Mobley, Aaron Mobley, Tony Dell, Rusten Smith, James Defoe and Darrell Defoe.
Honorary pallbearers were Matt Lucas, Gregory Parsley, Leland Smith and Derrick Smith.
