Mike Holcomb, 76, of Salem, Ark., died Friday, July 26 at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Clay, W. Va., the son of Sammel Holcomb and Agnes (Ramsey) Holcomb. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He retired as the transportation director for the Homer School District in Illinois. He moved to Salem 13 years ago form Joliet, Ill.
Survivors include his wife, Mardo Holcomb of the home; two sons, Michael Holcomb of Sarasota, Fla., and Edward Holcomb of Elwood, Ill.; two daughters, Mary O'Connor of Oxford, Ark., and Elizabeth DeBonis of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, Alfred Holcomb and Ordy Lee Holcomb both of West Virginia; three sisters, Nina Moles of West Virginia, Olive Numley and Dorothy Shamblin both of Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; one sister and one granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with local arrangements under the direction of Tri-County's Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.
