Mills wins TES spelling bee, Martin is runner-up

THAYER -- Thayer Elementary School has been invited to participate in the KY3 for Kids Spelling Bee. The local spelling bee was held for the fifth and sixth-grade students Feb. 10. The winner was fifth grader Brandon Mills. He is the son of Alan and Lynette Mills. The runner-up was sixth grader Grant Martin. He is the son of Mark and Monica Martin.

Mills will compete in a county-wide spelling bee which will be held Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Alton Elementary School Multi-Purpose Building. The winner will represent Oregon County on the televised KY3 for Kids Spelling Bee to be held March 20 in Springfield. The winner of the spelling bee will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
