OREGON COUNTY -- The Oregon County Commission met recently in the commissioner's office at the courthouse in Alton to discuss and finalize the county budget for 2004.

The budget was unanimously approved.

County Clerk Gary Hensley announced at the budget hearing that the county projected $1,872,694 in the General Revenue Fund with projected expenditures of $1,362,857. Hensley said he expected a year-end balance of $509,836.

He also projected revenues of $1,256,359 in the county bridge fund, with estimated expenditures of $789,386, leaving a year-end balance of $469,973.

The county clerk said Thayer Special Road District will receive $80,000 from this year's budget.

The county is projecting $730,000 in sales tax revenue and $64,848 in property taxes.

All non-elected county employees received a $500 yearly raise.

Hensley said all county budgets submitted stayed about the same.

He said although no specific upgrading project has been named for the courthouse building this year, the commissioners try to make some type of improvement at the courthouse every year and will continue to maintain the building.
