Thayer man dies in logging accident

A Thayer Man died as the result of injuries suffered when a tree fell on him while he was working last week.

According to officials from the Lawrence County Arkansas Sheriff's Department, Leslie Brian Woods, 28, died at 8:22 a.m. Aug. 1 on the Carl Phillips estate at Hoxie, Ark.

Deputy Chris Kirksey said Woods was sawing a tree while working for Leon's Logging of Mammoth Spring when the tree rolled over on top of his right foot and a limb from the tree hit Woods in his chest.

Dennis Walters, a co-worker of Woods found him and called 9-1-1.

Woods was pronounced dead at the scene and the death was ruled accidental.

Leon's Logging is owned by Leon Vaughn.
