Three members of the Couch FFA recently competed in the Agriculture Ag Literacy Contest. They were Leigh Etta Johnson, Jeff Bull and Rachel Burgard. The contest consisted of sending in a written plan and a videotaped presentation of the team teaching an elementary class a lesson on agriculture and its importance. They qualified for state by placing first in the South Central District with their lesson "Agriculture -- All Around, Up and Down" to Mrs. Craig's class at Couch Elementary School. They then made a presentation about their lesson to judges in the state contest held in Jefferson City. For placing second the team received a plaque and $400. The contest was sponsored by the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri Beef Industry Council, and the Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council.
