Thursday, January 20, 2005

Fulton COUNTY -- A Thayer man who stole a van and led officers on a high speed chase from Thayer to Hardy, Ark., in September was sentenced to 16 years in prison by Judge Tim Weaver last week in Fulton County.

Michael A. Klum, 20, was found guilty of aggravated assault, theft of property and criminal mischief in the first degree. Each count carries a four-year prison sentence and the sentences will run concurrently.

Weaver ordered Klum to pay $1,930.96 in restitution to the Hardy Police Department for damages he caused during the chase. He will be ordered to pay for the damage to the van, too.
