William Alvin Martin, son of the late Alvin and Winifred Black Martin was born on Dec. 23, 1931 in Valparaiso, Ind. He died July 11, 2002, in Calico Rock, Ark. He was married to Jean Bond in 1952. During his working years, William held many positions. He served as a seaman on a ferry on Seward, Alaska, a security man for Alaska Vo-Tech, and his last position was a maintenance supervisor for the Senior Citizens Complex in Seward, Alaska. Williams was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, Alaska. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Jean Marie Martin of the home; two daughters, Tammy Malaski of Norfork, Ark., and Jean Ann Lewis of Seward, Alaska; one sister, Judith Denner of Seward, Alaska; three grandchildren, Kristel Nelsen of Portland, Oregon, Ryan Matthew Lewis of Seward, Alaska, and Stevie Malaski of Norfork, Alaska; and a host of other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charles Martin.
