James Arthur Montgomery, 69, of St. Cloud, Wis., formerly of Viola, Ark., son of the late Owen Jeff and Mary Edna (Moser) Montgomery was born Aug. 14, 1932, at Bexar, Ark. He died July 8, 2002, at St. Cloud, Wis. He was married to Georgianna Hoover on May 20, 1997 at Salem, Ark. He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, and a mechanic and welder for the Arkansas Highway Department and Sadoff Iron and Metal Company in Fond Du Lac, Wisc. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was of the Baptist faith.Survivors include his wife, Georgianna Montgomery of St. Cloud, Wis.; two sons, Donald Montgomery of Viola, Ark.; and Steve Montgomery and wife, Lisa of Horseshoe Bend; one daughter, Velisa DeShazo and husband, Eddie of Horseshoe Bend; one brother, Ralph Montgomery and wife, Karlena of Viola; three sisters, Pat Martin and husband, Marvin of Mountain Home, Opal Smith of Bernie, Mo., and Shirley Doyle and husband Gene of Henri Cove, N.C.; three grandchildren, Rachel Montgomery, Adam Montgom-ery, and Hadley DeShazo; and many other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents.Services were Friday, July 12, 2002, at the Viola First Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Moore officiating. Burial was in the Viola Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ak. Pallbearers were Ray Berry, Elwin Wray, Matt Martin, Kelly Zeigler, Deion Sanders, Randy Love, Rachel Montgomery, Adam Montgomery, and Hadley DeShazo.Honorary pallbearers were David Jennings, Charles Sherman, Verlin Copeland, Tom Walker, Sr., Donnie Walker and J. A. Walker.Memorials preferred to the Viola Cemetery Association.
