Lora Armstrong Cathey, 88, of Broken Bow, Okla. passed away Oct. 14, 2002, at her residence. She as born Aug. 8, 1914 at Wirth.
Cathey was a homemaker and also taught school in Oklahoma and Arkansas for several years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and working in the garden. She was a member of the Eastside Missionary Baptist Church in Broken Bow. Lora married Floyd N. Cathey on Sept. 9, 1941 in Hardy. They made their home in Broken Bow for 48 years after moving from Thayer.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Floyd N. Cathey of Broken Bow; one son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Connie Cathey of Broken Bow; daughters and sons-in-law, Carmen and John Rhyne and Loretta and Tommy Wilson all of Broken Bow; sisters, Dorothy Keiss of Mena, Ark., and Inez Keiss of Watson; grandchildren and their spouses, Steve and Vicki Rhyne, Brandon and Beverly Cathey, Pamela Wilson, Angela Wilson, Beth Wilson and Melissa Cathey; great-grandchildren, Ty Cathey, Morgan Barrett and Gabriella Rhyne; special caregivers, Alene Twilla, Pat, Marcella, and others; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, R. Landon Armstrong and Sarah E. Murphy; one son, James Ray Cathey; one grandson, Michael Rhyne; two brothers; and three sisters.
Services were Oct. 17 at the Norwood-Coffey-Leonard Chapel in Broken Bow with Bro. John Rushing officiating. Interment was in the Broken Bow Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Norwood-Coffey-Leonard Funeral Home of Broken Bow, Oklahoma
