Beulah Viola Walker Jones, 98, daughter of the late Wallace Walker and Lillie Cooper Walker Rush, was born Sept. 26, 1904, in Jumbo, Ark. She died Feb. 4, 2003, in Melbourne, Ark. She spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a homemaker. She was united in marriage to Joseph Hanley Jones on May 3, 1924, in Newburg, Ark. Viola loved music. She was a long-time member of the Melbourne Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member of First Baptist Church of Melbourne.
Survivors include a daughter, Cloye Jones of Melbourne; three sons -- Thurl Jones of Tennessee, Cloyd Jones of Fort Worth, Texas, and Gary Jones of Pleasant Plains; a sister, Matra Musgrove of East Wenatchee, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hanley Jones; a son, Wallace Jones; a grandson, Don Jones and two brothers -- Troy and Glen Rush.
The funeral was Feb. 8 at Melbourne Baptist Church with Doyne Robertson officiating. Burial followed at Violet Hill Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Winfred Rush, Clifton Rush, Alvin Jeffery, David Todd, Jim Muncy and George Gillihan.
Honorary pallbearers were Boyce Gillihan and Shelby Gillihan.
