Thayer SB gives report

THAYER -- The Thayer School Board met in regular session April 11 at the school.

Several important items of interest were presented and discussed at the meeting, including the approval for continuing the teacher career ladder for the 2002-03 school year. The 2001-02 guidance program was reviewed and the evaluation was approved. School board members approved adding a policy on requiring annual school inventories of materials and equipment. The A+ due process appeals procedures were approved by the school board members and permission was granted to the administration to change the junior high schedule back to a regular seven-period day.

Thayer School Superinten-dent Bill Garrison reported the yearly bus inspection was a success with all buses passing the state inspection. He said gratitude is expressed to the school bus mechanic Elmer Adams for his work in keeping the Thayer R-II transportation fleet in top condition.

School board members went into closed session to discuss personnel at 8 p.m.

Patricia Abderholden and Justin Franz were approved as substitute teachers. The resignations of teachers Brenda Ledgerwood and Patti Kelly were accepted and Nina Crase's resignation as cafeteria supervisor was accepted.

Charity Simers was employed by the school board as the elementary music teacher for 2002-03.

The next regular Thayer School Board meeting will be May 9.
