Alfred and Mattie Rogers will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary Jan. 13.
Alfred Rogers and Mattie Mae Layne were married Jan. 13, 1940, by the Rev. Luther Love, at the Methodist parsonage at Ash Flat. Their attendants were Oval Rogers, Beulah Hoaney, Josephine Wooden and Mrs. Mittie Love.
Alfred and Mattie are the parents of three children, Montez Rogers, Dolly Nicholson and Rex, and Gary Rogers and Ruth. They have eight grandchildren -- Roger, Randy and Regan Nicholson, Becky Oliver, Robin Boyer, and Mandy Humphries, all of Ash Flat, Dustin Rogers of Evening Shade, and Leslie Bragg of Batesville; 14 great-grandchildren -- Adam, Aaron, Angie, Jacob, Julie, Nicholas, Jessica, Erica and Hana Nicholson, Camilla (an angel in Heaven) and Payton Oliver, Laney Boyer, Kealeh and Kody Rogers; and two great-grandchildren -- Blane Nicholson and Natilee Nicholson.
The Rogers attend the Corinth United Methodist Church, where Alfred has attended all his life.
Alfred's hobby is to plant and care for a large garden and share his produce with family and friends.
He enjoys all sports, especially the Highland Rebels, Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals.
Mattie enjoys cooking for her family, making quilts, crocheting and, best of all, taking care of their grandbabies.
