Russell Wayne Jackson, died Jan. 11, 2005. He was born in Blythe, Calif. on Aug. 27, 1959. He grew up in Hoquiam, Wash. He was married to Lorna Newlun. They had three children - Russell H. Jackson, Tera D. Jackson both of Hoquaim, and Adam T. Jackson of Melbourne, Ark.
Russell attended high school in Hoquiam, Wash. After high school, he entered the United States Army and served three years in Germany. After an honorable discharge from the Army, Russell worked on commercial fishing boats as well as in the timber industry. In 1996, he moved to Melbourne, where he worked as a dispatcher for the Izard County Sheriff's Office. Later he was employed as a correctional officer, until medical reasons, forced him to leave. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, photography, metal detecting and being a loving grandfather to his two grandsons: Byrce Burnett of Melbourne and Hunter Jackson of Hoquiam, Wash.
Survivors include; his mother, Christene Graham of Melbourne; his grandfather; Hoyt Jackson of Sage; three brothers - Randall Jackson and Bill Jackson, both of Melbourne, and Terry Jackson of Aberdeen, Wash.; three step-sisters - Leah Griffiths and Darla Bisbee of Hoquiam, and Nikki Claussen of Spokane, Wash. and stepmother, Judi Jackson of Hoquiam.
He was preceded in death by his father; Billy Wayne Jackson; grandmother, Dovie Tate Jackson; a sister, Elwanda Lee Jackson; and a stepbrother, Bryan Schneider. He will be missed by his family and friends who were fortunate enough to have him in their lives.
A memorial service will be Jan. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Melbourne VFW. All are welcome.
