Dorothy Jane Carolina Hardin Davis, 80, of Mammoth Spring, Ark. died Jan.13, 2005, at Salem, Ark. She will be missed by all that knew her bright eyes and smiling face.
She was born July 15, 1924 in Fulton County, Ark., the daughter of James Hardin and Barbara Dunham Hardin.
She was united in marriage March 20, 1940, in Salem, Ark. to Elmo Lee Davis, who preceded her in death February 1, 1997.
She is survived by her pet dog, Cookie; four children - Paul Davis and wife, Wanda, Wanda Jean McKinney and husband, Paul, Pat Collins and husband Tommy, and Fred Davis and wife Teena; eight grandchildren - Joe, Tim, Mark, Thomas, Jay, Faith, Rhonda and Rebecca; nine great-grandchildren - Dalton, Daniel, Korrie, Bethany, Travis, Grace, Christopher, Moriah and Rachel; two sisters-in-law - Lila Mae Stone Hardin, and Edith Davis Bridges; and many nieces and nephews that thought the world of her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years; two daughters - Wilma Louise and Alma Jewell; a son, Donald Lee Davis; three brothers - Bernard, Columbus and Benton Hardin; two sisters - Iva Davis and Mary Strauser; four half-brothers and five half-sisters.
She was a homemaker, enjoyed quilting and watching the birds. Spring was her favorite season. After her husband passed away in 1997, a pet dog, Cookie was her companion. But she planned for a day in eternity with Jesus, reading the Bible daily and trusting the Lord to carry her through life's journey. The funeral was Jan. 16, 2005, at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Mark McKinney officiating under direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. Thayer. Burial was in the Camp Cemetery in Camp, Ark.
