COUCH SCHOOL -- Two employees retired at the end of the school year at Couch School and the staff and students at the school said they would like to show their appreciation.
"Thank you, Tom Garrison for 34 years of service to Couch School as a bus driver, your dedication to the students and district is sincerely appreciated," the Couch R-I staff and students said. They added, "Thanks for the thousands of miles and over 750,000 students you have driven to school, ball games, music and club trips, senior trips, vo-tech classes, summer school and for serving as a part-time bus mechanic. Your sense of humor, jokes, songs, advise and friendship will never be forgotten by the many Couch students and employees whose lives you have touched. You are greatly appreciated and deeply respected. You are wished the very best as you leave Couch R-1 School."
Special thanks was also given to Shirley Simpson for 21 years of service to Couch School.
Simpson has taught as a special education teacher during her time at Couch School. She has also served as a leader in professional organizations and has sponsored student organizations such as Youth for Christ, Student Council and classes and their activities.
"Many students have been helped in their classes by her encouragement and assistance. Thanks for your devotion to your profession, family and students,"said the Couch R-1 staff and students.
