Four area students named to Who's Who

JONESBORO - Four local students attending Arkansas State University in Jonesboro have been named to the 2002 edition of Who's Who Among Students in American Universi-ties and Colleges. They are Sach Daniel Oliver, Amber Cochran, Ashley Cochran and Mindy Dawn Shrable, all seniors at ASU.

Oliver is majoring in agricultural business in the College of Agriculture at ASU.

Among his activities and achievements at ASU: he serves as president of the Student Government Association, and formerly served as a senator for the College of Agriculture. A president's list student, he also serves as the vice noble ruler of scholarships for Alpha Gamma Rho social fraternity. He was named as the Dr. Olen P. Nail Outstanding Junior in the College of Agriculture.

His parents are Eddy and Jeanie Oliver of Salem.

Amber Cochran is majoring in accounting in the College of Business at ASU. Her many activities and achievements at ASU include being a president's list student. She was also named Outstanding Junior in the College of Business. She serves as vice president of finance for Alpha Gamma Delta social sorority and vice president for Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. She is a recipient of the President's Scholarship.

Her parents are David and Sheila Cochran of Salem.

Ashley Cochran is majoring in accounting in the College of Business at ASU. Among her many activities and achievements at ASU, she is a president's list student and is the recipient of a President's Scholarship. She serves as president for Beta Gamma Sigma honor society and purchasing coordinator of Alpha Gamma Delta Social sorority. She was named Outstanding Junior by the College of Business at ASU.

Her parents are David and Sheila Cochran of Salem.

Mindy Shrable is majoring in graphic design in the College of Fine Arts at ASU. Among her many activities and achievements at ASU, she is a president's list student and the recipient of an art scholarship. She is a member of the Art Director's Club and the Art Student Union. She was named Most Outstanding Art Student in the College of Fine Arts.

Her parents are Donald and Penny Shrable of Gepp.

Dr. Les Wyatt, president of the university, and deans of the various colleges recognized award winners at a reception Dec. 2 in Fowler Center.

An ASU nominating committee and editors of the Who's Who directory selected 99 outstanding students for the 2002 edition.

The award is based on academic achievement, university and community service, and leadership. The annual directory, published since 1934, honors outstanding students at more than 1,800 institutions in the United States and other countries.
