FATALITY: Highland Fire Chief Tim Eash surveys the wreckage at an accident scene in front of Highland Square Shopping Center on Highway 62/412 Jan. 10 where a 17-year-old girl died from injuries....
A 17-year-old girl was killed Jan. 10 in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 62/412 in front of the Highland Square Shopping Center in Highland.

Sheena M. Green of Atkins died after the Chevrolet Beretta she was a passenger in pulled into the path of a Ford pickup truck driven by Jarrod Murphy, 19, of Cherokee Village.

Green's grandmother, Bobbie S. Green, 62, of Horseshoe Bend, was driving the vehicle and apparently was making a left-hand turn into the driveway of the shopping center when her vehicle was struck on the passenger's side by Murphy's westbound pickup truck.

Cindy Hall, administrator of Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System and a registered nurse, was in ALCO when the accident occurred. Hall said she reached the accident victims within 90 seconds of the collision. She administered CPR and first aid until paramedics arrived. Sharp County Deputy Coroner Bob Booth pronounced Sheena Green dead at the scene.

Bobbie Green was transported to EORHS and later transferred by helicopter to Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis where she was listed in critical condition at press time.

Murphy and his passenger, Aaron Summers, 20, of Yorktown, Texas, were transported to EORHS where they were treated and released.

Hall said Sheena Green was thrown from the front seat into the rear seat of the vehicle. It is not known if she was wearing a seat belt.

The Arkansas State Police did not return calls seeking additional information.
