Grace A. Hurtt, 74, daughter of the late George Jones and Zella Jewell Jones was born Dec. 14, 1928, in Koshkonong, Mo., and passed away Dec. 28, 2002, in Koshkonong. She was united in marriage on March 22, 1946, in Mammoth Spring, Ark. to Virgil William Hurtt who preceded her in death July 11, 2001.

She was a member of Koshkonong United Methodist Church and served at State Conference Level for many years, and was active in the United Methodist Women's Group. She was a member of the Langston-Vincent-Lunn VFW Post 7831 Auxiliary in Mammoth Spring, and a member of Oak Grove Extension Club. She enjoyed the many, many years she served as a volunteer at Shady Oaks Health Care. Along with her late husband, she was active in the West Plains Wagon Club, serving as secretary for several years.

Besides being a devoted homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother, she worked as a sales clerk in Cara Lee's Dress Shop in Mammoth Spring for many years.

Survivors are one daughter, Virginia Howell and husband, Jim of Koshkonong; one son, David Hurtt of Thayer; six grandchildren -- Regina Howell, Greg Howell and his wife, Kay, Clinton Howell and wife, Robin, Cindy Prince and husband, Joey, Alicia Hurtt and Justin Hurtt; and two great-grandchildren -- Lorna Kay Howell and Montana Prince.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, several half-brothers and several half-sisters.

Services were Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Dr. Jack Martin officiating. Burial was in the Shiloh Grand Gulf Cemetery with arrangements under by Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer.

Pallbearers were Earl Hurtt, J.C. Caldwell, Larry Corbett, Clyde Ray Johnson, Charlie Hurtt, and J.W. Hurtt.
