Benefit trail ride slated
Pioneer Saddle Club will hold the Ozark Independent Living's annual Riding For Ramps benefit trail ride at 10 a.m. June 5 across from the Devil's Backbone Wilderness. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
To reach the ride from West Plans, go west on CC Highway about 14-1/2 miles and turn right into the trailhead near the Ozark County line. The ride will leave promptly at 10 a.m.
Proceeds will be used to purchase materials for building ramps and home modifications for the disabled in Howell, Douglas, Ozark, Oregon, Shannon, Texas and Wright counties.
Minimum donation is $15 per rider or $20 per family. Prizes will be awarded for riders raising $35 to $75 in sponsorships. And there will be prizes for the oldest and youngest riders with most money raised.
Participants should bring their lunch and a canteen for the noon break. Cold drinks are available and the meal will be served after the ride. Donations will be accepted for the meal, organizers said.
No stallions are allowed. Out-of-state riders must have evidence of a negative Coggins test or health papers on their horse. No alcoholic beverages allowed. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and all minor riders must be able to control their horses at all times.
