Grammy award winning country music artist and long-time Branson headliner Barbara Fairchild will give a brief performance at 6:30 p.m. (immediately before the championship game) Jan. 11 at the Physical Therapy Specialists Clinic (PTSC) Grizzly Basketball Classic.
Fairchild has been entertaining and amusing fans since she was 5 years old and has been a member of the Branson community since 1992. The Indian Hills Warriors from Ot-tumwa, Iowa, will be back again for this year's tournament, and the staff of PTSC have set the theme as "The Return of the Hatfields & McCoys." Games will be played Jan. 10-11 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear their flannel shirts, overalls and hillbilly hats as they cheer the Grizzlies to victory. Other teams in the tournament include the St. Catharine Patriots from Kentucky and the North Arkansas Pioneers from Harrison. Barbara and Roy will have a sales booth set up at the civic center Saturday night and will be available for autographs throughout the game. Additional activities during the tournament include a Grizzly Uniform Scramble, a special appearance by Jose, the donkey, and a Hillbilly Hoe-Down dance contest.
Tickets for the Physical Therapy Specialists Clinic tournament can be obtained at the Drago Book Store on the campus of SMSU-West Plains or by calling 255-7227.
