Salem man arrested for shoplifting

Thursday, January 9, 2003

On Dec. 28 Ash Flat Police Office Tim McComas and Sharp County sheriff's deputies arrested Jimmy Dale Clayton, 55, of Salem on several felony drug charges after investigating a shoplifting complaint at the Flash Market in Ash Flat.

After placing Clayton under arrest for shoplifting, officers searched his vehicle and discovered a substantial quantity of suspected methamphetamine, some suspected marijuana, suspected clandestine methamphetamine components and pills containing pseudoephedrine.

Clayton was transported to the Sharp County jail and the Drug Task Force was contacted.

Investigators from the DTF responded and obtained an arrest warrant for Clayton. Clayton has been charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors as a result of the incident.

On Dec. 30 Fulton County District Judge Jim Short set Clayton's bond at $25,000. He was scheduled to appear in Sharp County Circuit Court Jan. 6. He is incarcerated at Sharp County jail.
