THAYER -- The Thayer City Council accepted the resignation of Ward I Alderman Bobby Ryan at the Oct. 8 Thayer City Council meeting. Ryan said he resigned because he had moved out of the Thayer city limits.
According to Thayer City Clerk Rosie Simpson, anyone interested in the position may present a letter to City Hall explaining why they would like the job. Mayor Allen Deckard may also recommend a person for the seat but the council will ultimately vote on the position.
The person who fills the seat will serve until April when the municipal elections are held and then someone will have the opportunity to seek the seat for a one-year term. Ryan was first elected to the Thayer City Council in 2000 and was into the first year of his second term as Ward I Alderman.
