Ozarka College golf scramble a success

On Sept. 28 thirty-six groups of golfers assembled at the Cherokee Village South Golf Course to play an 18-hole scramble to benefit the Ozarka College Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Winners in the Championship Flight were: 1st -- Russ Price, Monty McCurley and John Shelton; 2nd -- Stan Moleski, N. Ray Campbell and Mike Matlock; 3rd -- Jay Nelson, Marvin Maguffee and Donnie Bryant.Presidents Flight winners were: 1st -- Marc Goings, Brant Goings, Brandon Goings; 2nd -- Mel Coleman, Tanner Coleman, Nick Coleman; 3rd -- Marty Sellars, Kelly Powell, Lindell Blevins. Captains Flight winners were: 1st -- Larry Kissee, Carolyn Kissee, Tyler French; 2nd -- Phillip Orr, Nathan Duncan, Steve Thompson; 3rd -- Dan Dennis, Darrell Verkler, Joe Waggoner.The team of Coleman, Coleman and Coleman won the grand prize drawing for the round of golf with U.S. Open Champion Tommy Bolt.
CenturyTel, Cowart's Construction and First National Bank of Sharp County sponsored the golf tournament this year. Pap-Beardsley Chevrolet provided a hole-in-one competition for a new car.
