Horseshoe Bend residents voted by a margin of 8 to 1 Dec. 14 to join in the Izard County emergency medical services contract.
The ballot initiative passed 430 to 50. The measure will provide ambulance service in the Horseshoe Bend area at a cost of $50 per household, per year.
The move to join the county EMS contract was necessitated after Baxter Regional Ambulance Service declined to renew its contract.
