Alex Wiggs accounted for almost half Alton's output on offense Dec. 14, as the Comets blasted the Mountain View/Birch Tree Liberty Eagles 60-39.
Wiggs tickled the twine for a game-high 28 points on the night for Alton (6-1).
The Comets trailed 18-13 after one, but went on a 25-7 tear in the second period to take total control of the contest.
Bryan Joiner tallied 10 points, while Logan Simpson added nine for the Comets and Mike Crowell tossed in seven. Justin Crews connected for four points, and Dustin Tackitt two for Alton.
As if to prove he was just getting good and warmed up on the young season, Wiggs followed up his 28-point effort against the Eagles by blasting Willow Springs for 30 points in the Comets' 54-46 victory over the Bears Dec. 17.
Alton trailed 15-12 after the first period, but regrouped to hold the Bears to only 16 points in the second half of play en route to the win.
Crews added 12 points, and Joiner seven. Crowell and Tackitt knocked down two points apiece, and Ben Alexander scored one point for the Comets.
