Woodrow Wilson McCord, 92, of Evening Shade died Dec. 4, 2004, at his home.
Born Aug. 19, 1912, at Myron, Ark., he was the son of Houston and Sarah Ellis McCord. He retired in 1984, after 35 years of employment with the United States Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the new Evening Shade Masonic Lodge 744 where he attained the degree of Master Mason and received his fifty-year membership pin. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law -- Claude "Sonny" and Peggy McCord; of Batesville; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Daniel and Lisa McCord of Batesville; a granddaughter, Theresa Conyers of Batesville; two great-grandchildren -- Justin and Whitney Conyers, both of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vinalea Croft McCord; three brothers -- Cleo McCord, Vance McCord and Asa McCord; a sister, Bessie McCord; and a grandson, Michael Wayne McCord.
The funeral was Dec. 7 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Robert Hutchison officiating. Burial with a Masonic service followed in Sharp Cemetery at Evening Shade with arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Daniel McCord, Justin Conyers, Mitchell Moffitt, Barry Perkey, Virgil Kunkel, Junie Smith and John Ables
