Community Chorus to begin new season

The Cherokee Village Community Chorus will begin its 2002 season on March 5 at Omaha Center. Some 65 members are expected to begin practicing for the spring concert scheduled for May 5.Music for this concert will include a mixture of sacred and secular selections. Such old favorites as "Onward Christian Soldier," "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "A Mighty Fortress" will be performed, along with a spiritual called "De Animals A-coming."Secular music will include "Carolina Moon," performed by the women's chorus and "You're Just in Love." From the musical West Side Story, the chorus will perform "Tonight." The men's chorus will present two numbers: "A Quiet Place," and "Season of the Long Rains." The concert will close with two patriotic numbers, "America the Beautiful." and "God Bless America."The 2002 season will include three concerts: May 5, Oct. 6 and the Christmas concert on Dec. 9. All will be at Omaha Center. The Community Chorus always welcomes new members from anywhere in the area. Anyone interested in singing with the chorus is invited to join them at 9 a.m. March 5.
