Born 12-21-1920 -- Died 8-21-2003

Myrtle Katherine DeFoe, 82, of Ash Flat died Aug. 21,

2003, at Eaglecrest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in

Ash Flat. Born Dec. 21, 1920, in Swift, Mo., she was the

daughter of George William Sims and Mary Eva

Fourthman Sims.

She married Hollis Harding DeFoe Oct. 8, 1939, in

Pemiscott, Mo. She attended the Christian Tabernacle

near Hardy, Ark.

Survivors include her husband, Hollis Harding DeFoe

of Ash Flat; five daughters and their husbands -- Lois

Jean Vickery and husband, Orville, of Mammoth Spring,

Brenda Joyce McComas and husband, Martin, of

Mammoth Spring, Holly Sue Jackson and husband,

Frances, of Hardy, Sherry Dawn Farmer and husband,

Forest of Hoxie, and Serena Yvonne Miller and

husband, Laban, of Mountain Home; four brothers --

James Sims of Ash Flat, Harold Sims of Ash Flat,

Charles Sims of Thayer, Mo., and George Sims of

Mammoth Spring; 14 grandchildren and 27

great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George

William and Mary Eva Sims; two sons -- Larry Alan

DeFoe and Lloyd Hardy DeFoe; a daughter, Myra Eve

Friel; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John Noah

Defoe and Mary Elizabeth DeFoe; and two brothers --

Orville Sims and Roy Sims.

The funeral was Aug. 23 at Christian Tabernacle near

Hardy with Herb Seibert and Harold Brown officiating.

Burial followed in Eagles Rest Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Tri-County's

Cherokee Chapel of Highland, Ark.

Pallbearers were Jason Jackson, Curtis Jackson,

Joseph Friel, Jeffrey Friel, Marty McComas Jr., John

Farmer, Wayne Farmer, and James Farmer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the

Eastern Ozarks Hospice.
