Thayer woman killed in accident

HOWELL COUNTY -- A Thayer woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident July 12.

According to a report from Troop G of the Missouri Highway Patrol, Carol Futhey, 34, of Thayer was killed when the 1994 Ford Escort she was driving was hit head-on.

The report said Randle Slagley, 19, of Salem, Ark., crossed the center line of Highway 17 and struck the Futhey vehicle. Slagley was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger.

Futhey was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Howell County Coroner Lonnie Pruett. The accident occurred at 9:05 p.m. seven miles south of West Plains on Highway 17.

A passenger in Futhey's car, her son Jordan Jenson, 16, also of Thayer, received injuries in the accident and was air lifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

Slagley was first taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains and later transferred also to St. John's.

The accident was investigated by Trooper E.W. Mann of Troop G.
