Jim L. Reese, 88, of Alton, Mo., was born Aug. 10, 1915, in Mountain View, Ark., and died Dec. 23, 2003, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
He moved to Mammoth Spring, Ark. in 1948, operating the Mammoth Spring Livestock Auction until closing it in 1966. From 1968 to 1985, he operated the Central Ozark Livestock Auction in West Plains, Mo.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Juanita Hincha-Reese; four children -- Shirley Spurlock of Springfield, Mo., Susie Hainey of Alton, Mo., Denny Reese and wife, Jane of Alton, Mo.; and Nolen Reese of West Plains; nine grandchildren who will serve as pallbearers -- Mike Spurlock, Shawn Spurlock, Pat Spurlock, Kelly Hainey, Stacey Hainey, Jimmy Reese, Blake Reese, Josh Reese, and Amanda Reese; 16 great-grandchildren -- Clay, Jessica, Colton, Megan, Hailey, Kacey, Chloe, Anthony, Valerie Ethan, Kylea, Garryque, Michaela, Chantz, Ryon and Jace.
He was preceded in death by his parents -- Isaac Franklin Reese and Arminta Jane Farra-Reese; three sisters -- Elsie Nelson, Dolsie Wagner and Goldie Cleghorn; three brothers -- Melvin Reese, Lynn "Cotton" Reese and Paul Reese.
The funeral was Dec. 27 at the Clary Chapel with Charles Trantham officiating. Burial followed in the Huddleston Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, Mo.
