Highland band to hold cookie dough fund-raiser

Thursday, January 8, 2004

The Highland Band will begin its annual frozen cookie dough sale Jan. 6 to 13. Students in grades six to 12 will take orders for flavors such as chunky chocolate, white chocolate Macadamia nut, peanut butter, sugar, double chocolate chunk, honey oatmeal raisin, brownie and the new triple chunk.

"This is the fourth year we have done this sale and it is our best and most popular fund-raiser. People come up and ask 'When are you going to be selling cookie dough again?'" said Hope Bruner, junior high band director.

Bruner explained that individual profits from this sale can be credited to summer band camp tuition. "Band camp is expensive and this is a way a child can earn the cost of camp. Last year we had over 30 students attend camp and many had camp paid for because they got out there and sold cookie dough."

To place an order, contact a band member first. "We realize many people want to purchase the cookie dough, but might not get contacted. If you don't get contacted, please call us," Bruner said.

To place an order, call the high school band room at 856-2298.
