Thursday, January 8, 2004

Staff Writer

THAYER/MAMMOTH SPRING -- Earnie Mainprize presented the program at last week's Thayer Mammoth Spring Rotary Club. He spoke to club members about the local historical society, how it was created and its goals. He said they were in the process of establishing a historical document library/museum in the old Glimpse house across from Thayer Post Office. He said the museum will be a facility to preserve books, photos and other historical documents relating to Oregon County that would not be preserved by the public library system of genealogical society.

The museum is currently open on Tuesday afternoons. Mainprize said donations of documents or photographs are welcome. He showed pictures from Oregon County history and gave a few tips on preserving documents.
