Amiel Franks, 79, of Ephrata, Wash., was born March 18, 1923, to William and Rose Strain, and died Monday, March 25, 2002, at a Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee, after a long battle with cancer. He had many family and friends in the Salem, Ark. area. After his parents death in 1926, he was adopted by Margret and Daniel Franks. He married Virginia (Murreil) Yancey in 1951. They lived in the Wenatchee area until 1960, when they moved to Ephrata where Amiel worked for the Ephrata School District until his retirement in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Murriel Franks of the home; two daughters, Ginny Weir of Moses Lake, and Cheryl Brown of Ephrata; and one son, Harold Franks of Ephrata; eight grandchildren, Beverly Kinder, Christopher Kinder and Andrew Kinder all of Moses Lake, Zachery Brown and Kaitlyn Brown of Ephrata, and Jessica Franks, Kayla Franks and Austin Franks all of Ephrata; and one great-grandchild, Veronica Castilleo of Moses Lake.He was preceded in death by his natural parents William and Rose Strain; three brothers and one sister, three half-sisters, and one half-brother; and his adopted parents, Margret and Daniel Franks.Services were Thursday, March 28, 2002, at the Bethle-hem Chapel, Assembly of God Church in Ephrata. Arrange-ments were under the direction of Nicole's Funeral Home.
