THAYER -- A special presentation of the esteemed Paul Harris Fellow Award was made on behalf and in honor of long-time Rotarian R.R. Ream who passed away earlier this year to Rotarian Pam Ream, his daughter-in-law. Norma Pace read a biography of Dr. Ream's contributions to the Thayer-Mammoth Spring Rotary Club over his 50 years of devoted membership. Along with the honoree, Pam Ream, Rotarian Jerri Ream and former Rotarian Anne Ream, his daughter, were present at the meeting. Dr. Scott Ream, Pam's husband, is in Cambodia with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH). This is the 17th trip overseas Dr. Ream has made to serve the optical needs of people in poverty stricken countries throughout the world.
At the Feb. 27 meeting, Rotary District 6080 Governor Jerry W. Franklin addressed the local club. Franklin spoke of the Rotary Foundation's world goals of ridding African countries of AIDS and the worldwide eradication of Polio.
He announced that Rotary District 6080's local project for this year and in future years will be Wonderland Camp located at Lake of the Ozarks. This summer camp focuses on campers who are mentally or physically challenged and offers them a week of specialized programs and activities planned for their enjoyment and enrichment.
