A Melbourne, Ark. man has been charged with felony attempted armed robbery after he allegedly threatened an employee at Thayer Fuel Center.
William. K. Frey, 41, was arrested and taken to the Thayer jail last week from Izard County, Ark. His bond was set at $10,000.
According to Oregon County law enforcement officials, Frey allegedly entered the business, located across from Pump and Pantry in Thayer, around 6 p.m. Jan. 27 and asked an employee if he knew how much money was in the cash register and if the employee had ever been robbed. According to the employee it was at this point that Frey put his hands in his pockets, causing the employee to wonder if he had a weapon. Frey reportedly left the business when another customer came in.
Thayer police were immediately notified and Frey was apprehended in his vehicle a short time later. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Oregon County Associated Circuit Court this week.
