THAYER -- Clean Up, Paint Up, and Fix Up week in Thayer has been designated to begin April 19.
The Thayer City Council and local fire department ask that every citizen and property owner in the city limits as well as all civic clubs, schools, churches, scout groups and all other organizations to take an active part in this program to help create a healthful and cleaner appearance in the community. This will include the business section as well as the residential sections of the city.
Thayer city officials said clearing away the accumulated debris is the least expensive of precautions available to city residents, and one of the most effective. Old clothing, discarded furniture, small appliances, and trash with the exception of heavy steel, rocks, concrete, tires, refrigerators and yard waste, should be placed at the regular location for pickup. Weeds and grass on residential and vacant lots should be kept trimmed through the growing season.
Refrigerators with no freon and other white goods need to be placed curbside. Thayer City Hall needs to be called at 264-3921 so those placing these items curbside will be on the pick-up route list.
The IESI trash trucks will start picking up this refuse April 15 on the south side of the city and April 16 on the north side of the city. This is regular trash pickup day.
A large rolloff container has been placed at the parking lot next to the police station for Thayer residents' convenience during pickup week.
In addition to regular trash pickup that week city residents may take their extra trash to this dumpster during clean-up week for those who still have items to discard.
